It's wierd that they didn't. The americans at that time had a plan to conquer all the lands in north america to prevent the continent from looking like europe.

The Continental/American Army was at its best on the defensive, utilizing interior lines e.g.. Nathaniel Greene's efforts in the Carolinas and the Saratoga campaign. Conducting an actual offensive and gaining a decisive victory was much more difficult under the best of circumstances--the British, with the best military in the world at the time, had extreme difficulty pulling it off, which what led to Yorktown. Compared to the British Army, the Continental Army was barely an Army in the sense of the word, consisting of a bunch of temporary regulars of dubious "loyalty"--more or less mercenaries--and a ton of militia who were only fighting for their immediate homes usually. As such, when the Continental Army tried to invade Canada, they were absolutely owned by the British.

They actually tried to conquer Canada (which at the time largely consisted of French colonists and Americans who recently settled in the area) in the early 1800’s but the United States was met with heavy reinforcements from the British and as a result DC was invaded and the White House was burnt down.

Early America was a cluster-F, to say the least. In short, the further North once settled in North American, the more loyal one was to the Brit Empire. Obviously, I am simplifying it, but most former Brits/New Americans had growing dissent with the Brit empire because of slavery, taxation, etc. Whereas, Brits/Future Canadians more than likely didn't have similar complaints. Another post made an amazing post about failed attempts, but I consider it a part of USA vs. Brit, especially since Canada didn't become its own nation until mid-to-late 19th.
The idea of manifest destiny came shortly after annexing Texas. It mostly justified Westward Expansion.

Yes. It's also worth noting that the British were concurrently warring against Napoleon in Spain/Portugal, and that war held the focus of Britain's best soldiers and military leaders. We were facing the B-team during 1812, and we still barely broke even. If the British had decided to wage total war on the US, they would have seriously fukked us up.
Yeah, the US had to deal with territorial expansion westward, manifest destiny, the civil war, wars against european powers that it was preoccupied with too much to really focus on Canada.
The last time America tried to invade Canada, Canadians burned the white house.
