To my knowledge Princess Fletcher is not an immigrant from Africa, so I don't understand the plural? I agree that Adaobi Nnamuchi shouldn't have become miss Juneteenth. She doesn't know what it's about, which made if even more horrible. Then again, it was other Black Americans (Freedmen descendants) who crowned her to be miss Juneteenth.

This image is so beautify and touches the soul on so many levels. It's literally people who were born in slavery who became freed people. And young people, first generation born into freedom.

This was a horrible example. I would have gotten it if a white woman was made miss Juneteenth. The problem with Adaobi Nnamuchi is not even that she's Nigerian, but that she said a lot of problematic things where she babbled crazy.

Had Adaobi Nnamuchi stated that 400 years part of her people was deported to the Americas and had to endure horrible things all this time. And she would invest time and money to consolidated to Freedmen. It would have been something completely different.

This is a complicated argument, which begs for the question. Should Black immigrants (non-fbas) integrate and assimilate into Black American (Freedmen) culture, like the Black immigrant predecessors?

Where to go from here on out? We also have to take into consideration that fbas is an online hype. Most Black Americans as Freedmen descendants have no clue what fba is.
