Working actors are always between jobs. Unless it's an actor who is typecast as a certain 'type", actor is going to keep a conservative haircut so that he can go audition for widest range of roles as possible. Headshots you send out have the same conservative cut so that casting director can potentially see you in wide range of roles. Starting from a temple taper, you can grow it out or shave it off depending on the role.
