Why do Americans love pickups so much?

I bought my RAM 1500 mainly because of my back issues. It was murdering me aggravating my back as a 6-3 breh getting in and out of my Optima. I had planned on looking into a truck or a large SUV down the road but coming across that deer on I-540 in November changed that all up. Truck already came through in the clutch several times. The support beams in our bed broke, so we had to get some boards to put in the bed to support our mattress. I was able to open up my bed cover a little and securely load the boards. Gas mileage isn't even a problem. I work from home, so little random town driving I get about 16 mpg and when we go on a longer road trip, I'll get around 21-22. Happy with my purchase.

You can rent a uhual pick up or van for $20 for the two times a year you need to haul something
My dad bought a loaded pick up truck because in his words "everyone has them" :snoop::dead:
He's in Texas

it's a shame what americans obsession with trucks, suvs, and crossovers is doing to the industry
^^This. If you don’t work in the trades or haul weekly , pickups are a waste

How often do most folks buy a couch, 50 inch, refrigerator etc? According to the Coli, often enough warrant buying a F-150:mjlol:

my folks bought a washer off Craigslist earlier this year. We rented one of them Home Depot pickups for $35, and returned it within a hour:russell:

My friend from the Caribbean came to America once. We drove from nyc to dc. He couldn’t understand why he saw so many on the highway.

In Guadeloupe only people who live in the country side have them and to be honest the people in the country in the Caribbean actually utilize those trucks way more than Americans haha

You obviously don’t own a home or do any house work. Pick up trucks are useful for obvious reasons.

My folks have had a crib going on 30 years. They’ve got by just fine without one. Pickups are goofy for everyday use/commuting.

Home Depot has pickup rentals for under $40 for the two times out the year we need to haul a couch or appliance

I always prefer the route of renting uhaul, or even car sharing services to rent trucks if you want to rent a regular old truck without logos and shyt

If you periodically need to haul big stuff then why not just buy a cheap beater truck like a ford ranger :pachaha:

After owning a truck for a few months, I don’t think I’ll ever get another small car again. I should’ve waited for the hellcat ram that’s coming though.

As a pickup owner it's interesting how dismissive some of you are to the lifestyles of others.

1.). A modern pick-ups efficiency ain't threat much of any car with decent power but have much more torque. They have cylinder deactivation and all too.
2.). We garden. We're serious about it. There's always a project. In the late winter, early spring, July and October, that would take renting a vehicle for like 4 months. Nevermind the towing. My family has land in the country, and we're tow our tractor around.

3.). Anyone talking shyt about a pickup has obviously never driven the new RAM. As nice as anything in that price range. Comfortable as hell to drive and are much more agile and manageable than they were 10 years ago.

I love trucks! They got the power and torque to pull trailers, boats, 5th wheels and other heavy equipment. So, for people who like to camp, fo boating, drive in various types of terrain and/or haul a lot of things, then it is a great investment. I hear that the motors can last damn near a lifetime, if it is properly maintained.

However, for me, I have no use for one at the moment, but one day, I will get one.

I'm in Texas (Houston to be exact) and trust me it benefits you to have a truck in this city hell I'll say state. The weather and flash floods can leave your ass with a flooded car in 5-10 minutes. I also go out of the city every now and chill in the country (Summerville). I drive my old man's F150 from time to time and love it. I'm grabbing a Dodge Ram or GMC Sierra next year.
