Why do analyst/Experts prefer LeBron and players prefer Kobe?

Basketball players actually know the game so they see beyond stats. The media and public at large are ignorant about the game so they use stats as a shortcut to understanding the game.

As a pure basketball player, Kobe is clearly better than LeBron. LeBron just knows how to stuff the stat sheet so he fools the ignorant public.

I wouldn't even say this. Kobe and Jordan have similar game, Lebron doesn't. He's more Magic Johnson than Jordan but we the people keep heaping this Jordan expectation on him cuz he's the best player in the league. And I think it's cuz Jordan and Kobe came back to back so now we expect the best player in the league to be like them cuz it has been one of them for over 30 years

I would compare Russ to Jordan and Kobe cuz Russ has the mentality they got and truthfully if Russ was Lebron's size and handled the ball better in crunch time he'd be the best player in the league.

LeBron is 2 inches taller and about 50 lbs heavier than both. All 3 practically have the same vertical (Jordan's was highest) and around the same foot speed even if he is a half step behind. If you have that extra weight and can keep up with them I think that makes you athletically better.

No, he can't. Teams key in on and actively play off Lebron to stop him from getting to the rim but Lebron consistently gets buckets at an ungodly efficient clip near the rim.

Lebron is ungodly more efficient at turning points to buckets near the rim. Dunks and a couple of highlights don't change that. It's like saying Jamal Crawford is a better shooter than Kobe because he has some highlights of hitting contested shots. Kobe does it way more, at way higher volume, and way more efficiently.

Its because of a few things.

Players have historically celebrated players and teams from their own era.

Kobe has been around longer. People don't seem to remember the way other players looked at Kobe like 10 years ago.

There is a huge fallout whenever you go against Kobe in an argument. If a player went on and said Dennis Rodman was a better rebounder than Kobe, his social media would be flooded with hate. Ripping LeBron is accepted because he doesn't have that breed of stans and people are used to seeing him get disrespected so it doesn't measure as sacrelige when he is criticized in any way.

Aesthetics. LeBron is better than Kobe at basketball in every measurable way but Kobe's game is prettier. He has better highlights. He's a better bad shot maker. If this were figure skating or gymnastics then Kobe would be better... but it's not. I'd argue that Kobe has fooled more people with his game than LeBron has.
