Why do analyst/Experts prefer LeBron and players prefer Kobe?

Aesthetics. LeBron is better than Kobe at basketball in every measurable way but Kobe's game is prettier. He has better highlights. He's a better bad shot maker. If this were figure skating or gymnastics then Kobe would be better... but it's not. I'd argue that Kobe has fooled more people with his game than LeBron has.

This is really what it comes down to. Bryant had a much prettier game. His movements were more fluid and his agility made for some breathtaking plays that a guy as big as LeBron can't make, but he could not finish in the paint like James can and he wasn't as good a shooter either. Then there's his shot selection, which was just horrid which people tend to overlook because of how pretty the made shots look. It's kinda similar to how a lot of people don't notice how the shot selection of Curry and Klay is because they tend to make so many of the shots that they take. They just happen to make them at a rate that justifies their shot selection.

Kobe mainly makes people feel a certain way because his game was 100% ripped from Michael Jordan. And that's really who they're admiring and being inspired by. Not Kobe. They just can't admit it to themselves.

Cause analysts and the media have an agenda and aren't honest. LeBron can still be compared to Jordan and thats a fiery debate. Players who are unbiased and actually know what they're talking about cause they play the game and respect kobe tell it how it is.

But anybody who has every played the game knows there are qualities that can't be measured by stats. AN Kobe has that KILLER instinct that Lebron doesn't. That competitive nature, that fire. It can't be taught, you can't train someone to want to rip your heart out on the court. You can't train that level of competitiveness that made Jordan and Kobe better. And people who never played or coached don't understand things that cannot be measured in stats.

And honestly Lebron is the perfect example of how mental the game of basketball is because Lebron is a better athlete physically than Jordan or Kobe. He's faster, stronger, quicker. There is no reason at all he shouldn't be better than Kobe or Jordan but he does not have that Killer in him which holds him back.

He has some big playoff games in the midst of sweeps, or when Shaq and the other star were going at it and he was pretty much free to shoot at will against role players. But in the actual even series, when everything is on the line, he virtually never carries the team to victory. The best proof is how Laker fans constantly have to go to one game when he was 20 years old where he scored 28 points on 27 shots (against a team the Lakers had beaten without him just two games earlier) just to show a "clutch" playoff performance.

Lebron has 2007 Detroit Game 5, 2008 Boston Game 7, 2012 Indiana Game 4, 2012 Boston Game 6, 2013 San Antonio Game 7, 2016 Golden State Game 5, and 2016 Golden State Game 6. And that's just scratching the surface. I don't know if Lebron's Game 7 last year even would make his top-ten best elimination games, and it's still better than the best one that Kobe ever had.

Not to mention, Kobe at one point had what LeBron has with regards to media support and forever changed that with the rape case so once LeBron came around and held his end of the bargain it gave the media the perfect star to saddle it's "next Jordan" hype on. It's kinda funny when you think about it, all these stan wars that've gone on all these years really came from the sports media's need to generate debate by putting its greatest cash cow against whoever they decide is worth mention at the moment.
