That's 19 elimination games on there. He lost more than he won, even though 17 of the 19 were played during his years with stacked lineups. So what's the most impressive game on there? That infamous Kings Game 6 the refs rigged for them? The blowout loss to the Thunder where he put up mad points? Hell, about half those games he shot 30-something % or worse and more than a third of those games he didn't even break 20. Why so many shytty games when the series was on the line if Kobe has such a "killer instinct"?
For years he's played extra minutes in games that were clearly out of hand.
Yeah, I'm sure that Lebron wants to put more wear and tear on his body to the point that he overrides his coach's personnel decisions just so he can get extra time in meaningless games.
Avoids taking end of shot clock shots since they're such a low percentage shots.
Compete bullshyt. The numbers have been posted here before - Lebron has taken as many end of shot clock shots in his career as anyone in the NBA.
I think that has tied into the front running label as well. When his team is in the lead eye test wise he seems a lot looser and his jumper is much better which usually coincides him being in the midst of a good game.
So you're saying that when he's having a good game and gets his team the lead, he continues to have a good game?
I think Kobe was harder to shut down and more skilled over all. Lebron plays smarter. If Kobe faces a tough defense/defender he'd try to conquer the defense to prove a point. Lebron was smart enough to run pick and roll until he got a matchup more desirable to him.
This is true.
I think Kobe appeals to players more because Lebron has shown you can get in to his head and if he can't totally figure out how to get his then he can become really passive and shut down. Kobe is going to try and keep attacking until he figures something out which appeals to player's competitive nature.
Except outside of that Dallas series, Lebron is the one who kept finding ways to have monster games when his team was on their way to elimination (Detroit 2006, Boston 2008, Indiana 2012, Boston 2012, San Antonio 2013, Golden State 2016) or put up ridiculous performances even when completely outnumbered (Washington 2006, Detroit 2006, Orlando 2009, Golden State 2015).
Meanwhile, Kobe is the one who gets eliminated in blown out or humiliating fashion over and over (San Antonio 2003, Detroit 2004, Phoenix 2005, Boston 2008, Dallas 2011).
I think the best current example is why so many players old and new absolutely love Russell Westbrook and side eye James Harden.
So why are the players voting Harden as the MVP in 2015 then?
