Why do analyst/Experts prefer LeBron and players prefer Kobe?

LeBron has the best Bball IQ of all time and Kobe had perpetual tunnel vision.

Superstar athletes don't find it as appealing to sit in the film room and pour over tape to raise their bball IQ as they do getting up early and taking a ton of practice reps. #NoDaysOff #GrindTimeetc.


This shouldn't be shocking to anyone since a lot of these athletes skate by in the classroom as it is.

I LOVE numbers and statistics. I like analytics, but some of the stats nerds(i say stats nerds as a compliment) are too beholden to the numbers. Some of the guys they hate the most, are guys who did what they were supposed to do within the system. Part of the winning formula was for these primary scorers, to be primary scorers and to get points in volume. Depending on the system and the surrounding teammates, you gotta look beyond the shooting percentage turnovers, VORP, etc before you make a final judgement on a player. I always hated the term "chucker". I always felt that the Iversons, Melo's and Kobe types are under appreciated in this era.

Based on what? Like, there isn't anything that Kobe can do better than LeBron. Remove all the accolades and LeBron is probably the second-best basketball talent we've ever seen.

Kobe has a better handle, footwork, shot fakes, post game, jump shot off the dribble, mid-range pull up, on ball defense, ability to split two defenders, more range...I can go on & on...

Bron's only advantage over Kobe is penetrating, passing & off ball defense (when he's motivated)

Scottie was a TOP 5 NBA player many times while playing with Jordan. 2nd best wing player many years. TOP 3 NBA player 95-96.

I disagree, but it is what it is. LeBron just does more on the floor than Kobe. It's almost like the line "Wilt could be Russell, Russell could never be Wilt" to me, the average NBA player believes in a role where his offense is maximized and emphasized is more like what we've seen from Kobe than what we've seen from LeBron, which is why they could often relate to Kobe and pick him over LeBron.

As far as better things on the floor, LeBron shot better from 3 than Kobe - career 34 percent to Kobe's 32 percent. LeBron has 7 seasons shooting over 50 percent from the floor and all 7 seasons he averaged close to 7 assist in all of them AND 36 percent from 3 in four of them. He's one of the few players in the league that could thrive as both the roll man and ball-handler in the pick and roll, his size allowed him to play all five positions and defend multiple positions, including some defense at the rim.

Kobe and LeBron were both great defenders. This is why we can't always play the eye test. Kobe was not a good defender after 2008, yet still received awards for his defense. A ton of players in the league have reptuations for being good defenders and it's just not there. Both are top 15 players all-time, but LeBron just does more on the floor and does it more efficiently

I'm gonna assume this is sarcasm and that you're aware that the lakers got swept by those mavericks with Kobe playing like shyt and the way he shot the lakers out of the playoffs in his mid 20's on multiple occasions

You got guys like Ron Artest, Jared Dudley, and Tayshaun Prince telling you Kobe is way harder to guard than LeBron. You got guys like Tony Allen (arguably the best perimeter defender of this era) saying Kobe is the GOAT in his eyes.

Its more than guys just liking his game. The best defenders ALL say Kobe is tougher to guard than LeBron.

But go ahead and keep discounting the opinions of the guys who are actually playing against these guys in favor of some cac like Nick Wright that probably never played a sport in their lives.
