I think the East Coast superiority complex mostly comes from NYC/Tristate and DC/DMV. Ironically, with the Tristate and the DMV, the surrounding areas are clout chasing the reputations of the cities they border. Nobody wanna claim Maryland. People from Montgomery County and PG often claim DC or the DMV... like nah breh you from Maryland, quit playing.

Even Baltimore people be like “we don’t claim Maryland, we from Baltimore”.

Hella folks from Northern NJ be thinking they New Yorkers too.
Baltimore and Philly folks be hella cool. But there is also hella ignorant nikkas in both of those cities. I feel like Baltimore actually has an inferiority complex. Even hella people from Philly act like it’s some no name town even though it’s a top ten largest city.
NYers and DC nikkas don’t like nobody not from their cities, respectively. I remember watching the Drugs Inc. about dippers in Southeast DC and how DC nikkas had to get connects in L.A. with manufacturers and how hard it was for dudes from DC to get those plug connects in Cali. I can only imagine because DC nigs don’t like nobody.
Where I’m from in the Bay, nikkas been going to state to state from the Midwest to the South tapping in with everybody getting money independently since the 90’s. Most East Coast nikkas don’t move like that.
I think the reason why people don’t like the NY superiority complex is because NY never admits when other cities have clearly influenced their culture (i.e. Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, Drill music). We get it, NY is the fashion capital, NY created Hip Hop, NY is the biggest city in America etc. etc. But to say other cities haven’t influenced NY is a flat out lie.
