The Yay
college ball has very few players with 1-on-1 skills or great shooting skills. the gap in talent between an average college team and an NBA team is absurd.

so most coaches will elect to move the ball around and run sets until theres open shot
ie, leaning on teamwork more than individual skills

of course, as there arent many players who are great passers either, and arent a lot who can effectively run sets as a team, all the shuffling usually results in a tough jacked up shot anyway :manny:

Zone defense vs. man-to-man.
The ball can travel faster than a person. So, you can pass the ball to an open player to get a shot off.
If you try to run it through a zone defense, you'll get a charging call if they do it right. You lose possession of the ball and get a penalty.

some terrible replies so far in this thread

i watched Kansas do this shyt Saturday against an average OK state team

as with the other sports, college basketball is fixed and the end results are altered based on ratings/money

the shot clock is longer than nba and this style of plays allow for a team/player to shave points and keep games closer than they should be

Ball movement for match up, if you have a guy with a wet shot give him the green light.

You have a nazi coach who holds your future in his hands and takes full advantage of it so you play exactly how he says when he says :manny:

Cause most of those players cant hit those shots at a high percentage, hitting jumpers in practice doesnt mean u can shoot

because the shot clock is so long, you can take longer to move the ball and probe defenses for weaknesses. Less 1 on 1 iso ability because its college

It's even more offensive to people who actually play basketball. Things I don't understand about college basketball.

- I understand that your roster is always in flux and your recruiter is supposed to recruit players that fit your play style, but why is it that certain coaches in college never adjust to their personnel? :dahell:

- If you are losing the game, why are you using 20-25 seconds of the shot clock every possession :dahell:

- If your bigs clearly suck then why do you keep going into the post? :dahell:

- Why do certain coaches run only zone defense without any sort of adjustments, making their team predictable to attack offensively (even though the opposing coach is too scared to attack it)? :dahell:

- Coaches seem to have set minutes for every player that rarely seems to change, they seem to have no ability to evaluate the talents of their roster, leading to players that are clearly better sitting on the bench :dahell:

- Why is the 3 point line shorter than the NBA's, contrary to popular opinion, it doesn't help players make shots :dahell:

- Why is it that if you go to the college's gym to play pickup basketball, there's players out there that are much more skilled than the members of the team :dahell:

- Why is it that walk ons are frowned upon by coaches regardless of their talents and what they bring to the team :dahell:
