Why do college teams have so much trouble scoring?

People say the shot clock but it was higher scoring when it was a 45 second shot clock

Is it stricly lack of talent and a watered down cbb because of players leaving early?

Thats all it is, no sport has dropped from its prime as hard as cbb because of kids leaving early.

Put this in perspective the UNC Georgetown finals had:

Ewing
Jordan
Worthy
Perkins
Sleepy Floyd

:mindblown:

You cant even compare that to today its like its a different sport

- Game's more physical and not enough fouls are being called
- More teams playing at a slower pace
- The most talented players are leaving early

Compared to the pros, they aren't already a bunch of multi-millionaires who are set for life, so they play harder and actually play some defense as opposed to the lazy players with the all-star game motivation that passes for nba defense these days

35 second shot clock, lack of fouls being called and overcoaching. Take away a few timeouts and make the shot clock 24 seconds, scoring will go up.

I agree with all of this.

I dont think the talent drain has anything to do with it.

yeah, that high scoring 63-62 finish. :stopitslime:

its not talent, its overcoaching, overly physical play, and refs not calling fouls.

Less talent has to be some part of it no?

How many of these guys can actually create their own shot?
but everyone has lost talent, its not one or two teams.

If its on the list, its at the bottom. If there was more space and more fouls being called, the scoring would go up by a lot.

The way some of you tell it, every team had a Shaq, or Jordan, or Iverson. It was never like that.

A lot of dudes can create their own shot, even at the local rec center...lots of dudes got handles. Its not like players in college are individually great defensively. They are also play a lot zone which is the reason the 3 pt shot has become the weapon of choice in college bball. But look at the pace that is being place at the college level. they need to extend the 3 pt line to the NBA level for more spacing. Its slowest in all of organized bball. It shows you that the people that run the NCAA were not bball players and don't understand the game. The game was built to be played at a faster pace...its the reason the Celtics were dominate in the 50s and 60s. Same with the showtime Lakers.

Yeah im not a fan of the zone it slows the game down and takes away players individual talents

I also hate how cbb has become a 3 point contest that lets inferior teams hang around

shyt is terrible to watch. Back in the early to mid 90s teams scored more. UNLV, the fab five, UNC, Georgetown, Uconn and Duke were fun to watch. They seriously need to fix this. Its like watching paint dry at this point.
