I'm curious as to how they determine accurate incomes when so many Dominicans work in cash businesses and don't report all of their earnings.

Keep in mind that in 2016 we sent back more than 4 billion to DR, and in 2017 we sent back another 5 billion. This is coming from less than 2 million Dominicans. That money isn't coming from nowhere. Two words, unreported income.

Remittance Flows Worldwide in 2016

Remittances to Dominican Rep. to exceed US$5.8B in 2017

they wouldn't calculate remittance since that money goes to DR not Dominican American communities.

Of course. That's not what I mean. I'm just saying that the remittance money is being generated by Dominicans. A household under the poverty level is not gonna be sending a couple of thousand a year to dr and still be able to keep up with living expenses in this country, unless there's unreported cash coming in.

Now, that makes more sense!

BUT, what do you think will happen once it gets much harder to generate that money, which will happen in the next few years?

You think a lot will just go back to D.R.?

If they do, that will be a huge burden on the country. This is why I think a new plan has to be developed by all groups who live in this country that are non-white. Small business that deals solely with your own group isn't gonna cut it anymore, and going to college isn't gonna mean anything anymore, as afar as being able to generate a well to do living wage. Those things worked for the 80's-early 2000's, because of how the country was changing, and people who benefited got in at the perfect time, shyt is about to change drastically.
