My first to introduction to short hair was a one of my aunt's great friends and Handball teammate in Angola. This was mid-90's and she used to rock some extra shiny 360 waves. She was dark-skinned though so the shiny black hair (I think she put gel in it) went quite harmoniously with her slightly oily dark skin. It's just something that stayed in my mind till this day as just fukking beautiful.

I was barely 8 years old so there was no lust and sometimes I'd get confused as to why I liked looking at her so much. I guess the fact that she had the most amazing smile (straight and blindingly white), perfect body (toned like a mf) and very cheerful attitude helped. but her hair was just perfect on her as far as my 8 y.o. self could tell.

She was the only one woman I've ever seen rock that 360 wave not just well but also live. It's crazy how I've never seen another black woman rock that afterwards, and I've been to several countries (lived in three different ones even).

She basically taught me that long hair ain't the only thing that's hot out in the world. I bet she doesn't even know the extent of the impact she had in my way of viewing things. 'Cause I have a feeling that it's because of her that I've never looked at bald women as off-the-rip.

TL;DR: To me the right chick wasn't light skin at all. Sure I loved seeing Halle Berry with the short hair back in the early 00's but I was already up on game then.

That's probably the reason why I've never seen it on anyone else. Because that shyt even sounds wrong!
But for some reason, this idea popped up in that woman's mind – back in the mid-90's no less when long weaves were law for black women – she executed it, and it fukking worked.
