What about people who only listen to fukking Mozzy Star or Primus or HIM or whatever the fukk (aside from HIM, I like the aforementioned acts)? Is rap/hip not music? How can you say someone doesnt love music if they only listen to rap/hip hop? Hell Rap/hip hop can more musical than other genres. shyt dont make sense to me.

I always interpreted people said that because if you like other genres you do a lot of genre mixing regularly. Someone who listens to rock may also dip into edm or house, etc and it's as simple as breathing.

Rap usually only have a direct correlation with R&B, but for the most part a lot of newer rap fans aren't doing genre mixing, they stay in that lane, or other subgenres of rap.

I'm not saying it's fair or if it's not racially charged, but that's what I've always thought people were referring to when they said that.

Off topic but white people are madd soulless for the most part lol. White dudes will play Dr Dre, Snoop, 50 Cent and Eminem all day reciting every word passionately…Marvin or Al Green or some EWF come on and they’re literally like

Any white people into old school R&B / Soul is legit a real one lol, that should be the prerequisite test for if you get cool with a white person, if they can’t rock with Motown they probably secretly a racist demon masquerading because they like ignorant black music/people. Bunch of Rosenbergs

If you love hiphop then most likely you listen to other genres of music, or you got some favorite songs you listened to growing up from family playing them around the house or the car.. nowadays usually I only hear that statement of I listen to 1 genre only from teens or kids..
But bruh you don’t like any classic R&B, soul, funk, reggae, gospel or even rock.. there’s even some jazz I’m ok with too since my pops always played it growing up

That was me as a child and younger adult. The change came from beatmaking and looking for soul I could chop/sample. At some point I got more interested in the samples than the actual songs using them. I grew up almost solely on hip hop but today I have a nice rotation of hip hop, jazz and r&b.

Side note: I only recently got into reggae. I grew up in a Caribbean household and heard reggae a lot growing up but it was never for me until recently.

Never came across anyone that strictly only listens to rap music.

Predominately? Yes but never just rap.

Ehh most men I know only listen to rap. Especially now.

There’s no mainstream male R&B and only a couple of my boys listen to female R&B
