I wouldn't say friendships become less important as we age...but they become harder to maintain. Its even hard to maintain closeness with some family members unless y'all both have kids/spouses and y'all do things with each other kids/spouses.

As we age....our hobbies, habits, priorities, jobs, responsibilities, etc. change. Some people just outgrow each other or have less in common as we age. For example, u may have a day-1 who loves to go to bars/clubs, drink a lot, smoke a lot, go clothes shopping, etc. but when u get in mid 30s to 40s (especially in ur 40s)...u may change up and wanna set an example to ur kids and reduce or cut out all alcohol and drugs. Ur day-1 may not wanna cut down on partying and getting lit. That can impact y'alls relationship. People's interest change over time.
