Nope.

programming involves lots of math. If college kids are going to love math all of a sudden, I'm all for it.

It will advance civilization to unseen levels

Self programming computers are already in the works. Once those computers are made simple to operate what's going to stop some 17 year old from pressing a sequence of buttons so the computer can do it's thing?

They sit on their ass all day because they already put in crazy hours on infrastructure making sure they could sit on their ass all day. You won't see the value till they're on vacation for 1 week or a core switch fails and the company has grinded to a halt. Because most employees aren't computer literate it makes even more work for us but a good it guy will train his users so they don't pester him with the easy stuff.

And to be good you probably need close to ten years in the field seeing every problem imaginable. If your it guy sits on his ass his company is either managed remotely or he's seen so many problems that most issues are solved instantly that would take a newb all day to resolve.

Experience.

The initial program still has to be man mae. The hardware still has to be man made. There will still be a job for someone to do.

LOL...People have been talking this automation stuff for over 20 years. We transition from C programming to C++ to managed languages. Guess what? Nothing has changed. Every single time you introduce a new model you introduce a set of new problems. Programming has always been you " Fix one problem, introduce a new one ".... no computer can automate 1 million lines of code, the computer cannot deal with the business analyst, the design document or listen to customer feedback

Hell Moores law will not hold up due to something as simple as "Heating issues"... In reality the computer science field hasn't advanced that much from the late 90's. Most of our technology is based on ideas from the 60/70's.

Okay breh. I don't know why people think corporations will try to cut, automate, outsource every field and division EXCEPT theirs. You really think they're paying you because they want to? :heh: Technology is moving at a fast pace breh. Sure, you'll always need programmers but will you need as many and will they need to be paid as much is the question.
