when companies want to recruit for a position they care about they use external search firms that have more professional (and more scummy) employees who generally have a better grasp on what the job function is

Somebody knows the game.

Last couple of jobs I've gotten was due to professional recruiters reaching out to me. The internal goofys and company HR are clueless.

I had a recruiter message me on Monday like "Hey I think you're a good fit for this"-- I respond and then he asks for my resume and if he can call at 11:30. I'm at work so I don't see this til lunch... Send my info and then he calls and leaves a voice-mail talmbout they're gonna stop accepting applications in 30mins YOU b*stard

I get calls and emails from these White Women recruiters all the time and they are clueless. Then I look them up on LinkedIn and they look just like I expect them to look, and the whole recruiting team all look the same.

I had one recruiter call me about a technical management position and they could not pronounce the words in the job description, I was like it must be nice to have that white privilege lol.

recruiters are just the first screen, hiring managers and the final cohort of interviewers make the decision. if you get bounced from a recruiter screen, you can pretty much assume you either gave shyt answers or were terribly unqualified for the role. otherwise, these giggly 24 yr olds are your advocate, they get paid if you're hired and you use them to advocate for an offer you'll be happy with.
