I think a lot men don't understand/care than women's bodies are completely different than theirs. Sex is not visual for us; it's mental.We need to be mentally stimulated. Flirting, touching, dirty talk, assertiveness etc are all things we really enjoy. There is a reason women love romance novels.

I think some men don't want to change it up b/c of pride. I once asked an ex would be pull my hair and his exact response was "No, I'm not going to have sex with you the way another man had sex with you." If he is doing a great job in the bedroom she won't turn him down.
