I think a lot of dudes fall for the "you're my one & only" bullshyt, so when a chick breaks their heart they just can't take it and go nuts. women are much more realistic and practical in that regard. they move on faster

Its to my knowledge that the initial break is bad for men, but down the line it's the woman who can't get over it. Notice how 10 years later and even into a new marriage they'll still be bringing up that one ex who "was stupid"?

And how they'll continue to bad mouth him and the new chick he's with? I said it in another thread that a lot of females want to be the end all be all to men and it drives them crazy when you are able to move on from them and do better.

To answer your question though, men go crazy over break ups because we usually end up putting a lot of work into a relationship even when it's dying. A combo of wasted time and knowing that she emotionally detached a long time before hand will infuriate most.

I think some of what you put in OP is immaturity. Not every guy or person lashes out like that. Also men cannot take rejection, especially if they opened up to you. A lot of women seemingly wear their emotions on their sleeves and they are "supposed" to because they are women. But most of the time guys are taught not to do that. So if he opens his emotions to you and you hurt him or leave him he takes it hard. I also find dudes who are controlling, think they are in control take it bad as well.

I also believe with either sex, the person who initiates the break up leaves with the less baggage.
