Why do most East Coast beats sound like garbage when they can't sample records or bite from other regions?

Yeah, and look where it got em

Permanent seat on Jimmy fallon's couch

Didn't them nikka have to to London to get their first album out? :pachaha:

Even the east coast wasn't tryna hear that shyt, damn damn
Things fall apart was platinum and got them a grammy(not that I put stock into grammys) in an era that underground groups didn't win grammys. As for them being on the Tonight show, that's where they want to be. If not there, they'd be touring nonstop. But let's not change the subject. You said there were no good east coast non-sampled beats. Now that you've been proven wrong, you want to be a comedian and change the subject

Reaganomics killing my city’s music programs forced us to take another route.

Imagine your public school violin teacher had a masters degree in musicology from NYU only for next year to see her working the concierges desk at the Brooklyn Museum because the music program folded?

I will never get over that and how I cried for how far things slipped when I came out of pocket for my son’s violin lessons 30 years later.

Swizz ain't the only one either

When left to their own devices, NY nikkas pass off any cheap keyboard banging and boneless looping as the "real hip hop". Let's talk about it :scusthov:

You have not shown real adept knowledge.
about hiphop history here historically.
to even post this tho.

As your entire thread premise is welled in a fallacy.

The fact ya’ll having to literally go back almost 40 years to name none sampled East Coast hits is .

Yes, all regions sampled. But The South (and places like The Bay and even midwest), has always leaned on live instrumentation and/or original beats.

Pharrell was probably the last “East Coast” producer that did dope non-sampled hit beats. It’s more of an exception than the rule.

Nope. Scott Storch was the last and he's actually from the East Coast as a Philly native. "Lean Back" was #1. Huge record for NY. "Make It Rain" is another hit.

East Coast is built on sampling, and that's how it should be. Once the region moved away from samples into trash-ass 'digital beats,' their sound got progressively worse. Swizz has like 1 dope beat for every 24 hot garbage beats...s is just awful

South sounds dope with digital beats. The east does not.

Regionalism needs to continue its gradual return to hip hop.
I absolutely HATE that NYC went away from sampling. And I'm not even talking the Bad Boy loop stuff. I'm talking the chopping, the obscure digs, and the way they made that shít fit the mood. Made you feel like you were in NYC.

40 years? What about all those neptunes songs from 98-2002ish. Super Thug, I Just Wanna Love U, etc.

Ruff Ryders Anthem?
