thats like the easiest one lol. every primo beat sounds like the last one. esp post-gangstarr. at least on gangstarr albums he did the whole thing so he would throw some different styles in there but listen to any artists Primo-produced track and its the same beat.

its a great beat...but its the same as the one before it.

with the old school it felt like the personality of the producer was in the music. Nowadays it feels like they're all doing the same wave. Back then you had copycats but now it's hard to tell who's the copycat and who's the original everyone's in a race to get famous

There's way more diversity in beats now but it's true that a lot of cats sound really the same. Not only Trap producers. When Dilla died, everybody wanted to sound like Dilla. (including me)

And dilla beats used to sound like Q-Tip's

Yeah his style was kinda like between Q-Tip and Pete Rock which where some his best beats i think
but later he developed his own style with the Soulquarians.
I mean with all the layered claps/snaps and stuff on Fantastic Vol. 2.

obviously each producer has a certain sound. that's why we listen to them. Because we want to hear that particular sound. AM ilooking for west coast sounds on a Premo playlist? no. Am i looking for boom bap while trying to explore Big KRITs discography? obviously not. So really what's your point?

Exactly, that's why most of my beats sound similar.
Cause i like a certain style.

This is actually true.

Most west coast beats from 92-96 sound like Death Row replicas.

The east coast shyt had those dusty drums and samples with the crackling tape sound. RZA and Havoc are legends though..very innovative.

South was actually the most diverse sound in the 90s. Kast,CMR,UGK,Three Six etc...sounded nothing alike.
