Why do people act like Cam'ron and Dipset aren't legends?

Cam one of the most charismatic dudes I've ever seen I rank him with dudes like Slick Willy

He'd be a legend off the Oreilly appearance alone I swear some of y'all still in Junior High...

Turning to music influence, you also gotta give the dips credit for showing the strength of the Kanye chipmunk soul sound which helped him get the clout to become a rapper

In addition to the rosetta stone drake flow and rockstar style like you said

Funnily enough, the leader of the goons that kidnapped Juelz and Skull gang, Tanna (he's the one saying soo woo gang at the 3.46 mark and he's the leader of otray bloodset in Brixton/Stockwell back then) got his ass stomped out by teenagers from another area due to area beefs. They caught him lacking/slipping.

This is him

Can someone explain the kidnapping i watched the vid @DarianaGrande posted and I'm not sure if it confirmed or denied the kidnapping story

Like was they already kidnapped and being detained right then during the filming of that video? :tinfoiljbhmm:

Did they get run up on and then had the local goons go get shyt right? :lupe:

Because they aren't :stopitslime:

To be considered a legitimate legend in hip hop/music certain criterias must be met

Be a pioneer/founding father (s) :
DJ Kool Herc, grand master flash, KRS one etc

Be highly Influential and transcendent: Tupac, biggie, Rakim etc

Longevity and/or impeccable body of work: jay z, DMX, Nas, Snoop dogg etc

Which of these categories do they fit in :francis:

They may not be quite up there with those cats you listed but they definitely made a big impact on the culture. It ain't that big of a stretch to call them legends.

the only tings I think that hurts them is a lack of longevity on the national scene...from what I see, they usually werent considered the pinnacle of news longer than 3 years or so

also Diplomatic Immunity 1 is the biggest chore to listen to of almost any project Ive forced myself to like. Its too fukking long and most of the songs just arent necessary. Id still consider their movement legendary but would they be ahead of G Unit as the number one group in that time span? If you say no, that would be the answer to why they get disrespected now.....people only remember the most relevant

edit if you add ByrdGang as a subsection and especially Max B, then you have a movement that is arguably the most likable in the history of hip hop

 Growing up, Dipset and The Lox had the biggest fan base in London. And the girls also like Dipset, that puts them up there with a mega fanbase. Heck, they also signed a UK rap duo - SAS - that walked through Hot 97 and crashed the buildings with their freestyle. I don't think you'll know SAS if you're not from NY or at least the tri-state areas. Ask NY heads who're older than 25 about SAS.

Dipset just messed up because they took money from UK nikkas to do a show out here but never showed up. That were banned from the UK after that and they haven't been out here since 03 or so. If not for that, they'd still be eating in the UK.

This is SAS (the UK duo that used to be part of dipset - they're my naija brothers from NW London)

I'm in Canada and we were bumping SAS out here too. Wish they'd dropped more material

As for the OP, dipset has their place in the culture but they are nowhere near legendary. Hell, Cams best verses weren't even with Dipset, they were with his other group COC. And don't even start a Big L vs Jim Jones comparison :mjlol:
