I don’t really care if hip hop is dead or not.

Only thing I care about is if the youth are creatively respecting the art of music.

It’s seems like people don’t want to make music for music sake and for the people to enjoy. They just want a hit and some money and Not to make people feel good, which is what music supposed to do.

They just want be famous and make money. It’s ok to want to make money and be famous but if that’s your only reason then why are you even making music?

Hip hop like many genres will come and go. Its spirit will live on in its babies just like the genres before it. :manny:
That mentality started a long time ago tho

Hip Hop is only a culture when it's counter culture. Hip hop has been accepted and as it's been accepted the quality has gone down. It's gonna keep getting more basic until it becomes latino rap.
Lol the Shade....... :russ:What do have against Latino rap for it to be considered basic bottom the barrel in your opinion?

Yeah, but that's like saying Latin's not a dead language because lots of Catholic priests still speak it. Most of the big name acts that fans are supporting are trash. How you fix that I don't know, but not to shyt on everybody in the past 15 years but I think the last rap CD I bought was The Fix. Plenty of good music since then, but the industry looks like Young Thug and the Migos.

The industry still controls the image and the sound which should have been taken away from them when the indy/internet label push came along.

Me and my homeboy were just talking about this recently. Who DJs anymore? That’s really the backbone of the whole culture. The live show isn’t what it used to be. There was a point in time where that was critical to success. I remember as kids we used to beatbox all the time and make beats on the cafeteria tables

Imagine trying to beatbox trap beats :mjlol:
Beatbox, breaking, the arts...folks who didn't grow up cherishing the culture...nah, the LIFESTYLE of hip hop, would never understand. The essence of it is mad different in all facets. It's impossible to explain to people.

I liken it to an affluent, all black neighborhood going from black owned corner stores and arcades to white owned subways and apple stores. You can still live it if you want, and black people can be the face of it, but you a goddamn lie if you say it isn't different down to the core. So many things changed.

Compare the out put of 90s/early 2000s to now and that's your answer.
This is stupid. You basically mean compare what you like to what you don't like.

In the 90s I was listening to No Limit & Cash Money.

That's just a few reasons of many why hiphop is dead. :usure:

Hip Hop is far from dead, but "bars" are not in vogue right now.

Back in the day you had balance between party music and lyricism, and the greats could do both. Now, it's just party music, with 3-4 mainstream dudes actually spitting bars.

I got a question? Y'all claim Eminem is a vulture. But as far as knowledge of hip hop culture i.e. breaking and Mcing and history of the art itself. What young artist currently popping knows a quarter of hip hop history that a young em? Do the migos know anything about hip hop?
