:dahell:
You know the majority of the conservative political candidates use a literalist Christian basis for their opposition to things like same-sex marriage, abortion, support of "intelligent-design" school curriculum, Islamaphobia, opposition to the LGBTQIA+ community, opposition to birth control under medical care, and support of businesses legally having a religious affiliation, right? :dwillhuh:

the internet
at some point in history....Democrats decided to go after minorities/poor people as their demographic...and Repubs went after the religious right.

People have in their heads that that is what each party represents.
So the political officials have to play the role.

A repub comes along...he has to talk that God talk...and a Democrat has to talk about the disenfranchised etc...
Neither one really cares...but its the game they have to play because those are two huge groups in this country that buy into the B.S. (dummies).

Truth be told...the average Repub I run into isnt that religious...they just care about that money.
And the avg Demo isnt donating all their time to charities and helping the needy...they just have some liberal cause they care about (womens issues, affirmative action, white guilt, etc...).

The Right left Paradigm is outdated here. This is the Haves vs the Have nots. We are now a corporate oligarchy. If it keeps up we will have another overt civil war and that is undeniable.

It's honestly kinda contradictory that the extreme pro business party is the party of Christian values.

Long way we've come from Williams Jennings Bryan being the face of both progressive policy and religious fundamentalism and Huey Long championing the redistribution of wealth based upon biblical debt law.

Because they say they are? :manny:
irrelevant!

it seems the majority of the replies except or 2 understood what I meant.
Just remember, being against abortion doesn't make a politician rich
being against gays doesn't make them rich

Just remember that.

It's mainly because of delegates, they are extreme right or extreme left and since American politics is so much about delegates they cater their message to them.

Politicians lie, even when they say they are religious and care so much about the " word of god".

I just wanted to make this thread because it seems many do not understand that.

I'm sorry but i honestly think during the GOP debates at least half those guys really believe Moses parted the red sea with a magic staff.

Mike Huckabee & Ted Cruz sounded borderline religiously insane.
