Why do people gas Ridin Dirty as UGK's magnum opus?

I think Ridin Dirty just sounds fuller as an album. It sounds more professional

Super Tight is more of a personal favorite but that’s because I kinda have a preference to more rough sounding albums than ones that sound more glossy. But if I was gonna put someone on UGK it would be Ridin Dirty

Kinda same way I feel about Muddy Waters and Dare Iz A Darkside

Crazy how 40 and Short were able to sell units on Jive as well..

@shopthatwrecks do u have anymore insight on this??
short n 40 had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more freedom than ugk did

jive didnt kno what they had with ugk n didnt know how to market them...until big pimpin ....

pimp had to use aliases to work with other ppl...

jive was bullshyttin on a release date for rydin dirty...

it wasnt until ugk did a rydin dirty screw tape...feat dat boy grace ...where they used all the instrumentals from rydin dirty..freestyle the whole tape.. not the version thats out ...it was a grey a b was nothing but freestyles.. screw told em if u fall off we gotta start over... n screw droppin instrumentals at random it was a one take jake ...challenge ..

it reached the execs..they heard it ... they sent a cease n desist later to screw...screw gave it to pimp....pimp like ok .. ran em hot..

screw changed side b... n did mixes of some buns n pimp favorite songs

so they made the album like a screw tape no joe did the mix added the air.. random talkin etc......got botany and 3-2.... gave everybody credit ...n shot alot of the cover at screw house in the woodroom

then when dirty money...

jive was holdin em hostage again...so...pimp did trill azz mixes...then jive was about to put the album out...then big pimpin hit... they saw how big that song was ... pimp was against another one... this time pimp held up a album... because he wasnt tryin 2 do another big pimpin... then they got jermaine dupri... that was trash...

that got released...

Ain’t that a bytch…

Luckily, the South takeover was in effect after Pimp got home which helped em a lot.

One of the A&R’s who put T-Pain on was a big fan of UGK. I think his name was Memphitz

Super Tight is their masterpiece. I remember buying both Ridin Dirty and Beats Rhymes and Life (they came out on the same day on Jive) at Tower Records and being let down by both. Production is way more layered on Super Tight.
