Same reason people hate morals.
Its difficult
True, but it does not need to be.

This, unlike a philosophical take on things, is quantitative. A formula can be made to bring this into more classrooms at early ages and to introduce its practicality.

Without strong parental enforcement you need extremely simplified techniques and great teaching methods.

The new way theyre teaching math now..... :mjcry:

The testament to genius is being able to simplify a complex problem

Because its boring so most lose interest.

Baking a cake can seem real boring on paper. You gotta show what you will get and how to get there.

i was cool with math until about 10th grade and geometry came into the mix fukked me up for the clearinghouse lol

Me too, though that's around the time I dropped out. My fault.

In the end, math should be pushed a lot harder in school. Not everyone will like it but it will teach people how to understand and interpret different concepts. This is why we are raising button pushers and not decision amkers

They are not introduced to it properly and most teachers and professors cannot make abstract concepts relatable to everyday life. Just drill you with theorems and formulas.

Edit: Comp Sci majors and Math nerds may appreciate this one. A mentor sent it to me when I asked a simple question.

Showed it to my paired programming partner and she was upset at 20:37 and wanted to know why the men get to choose first.:pachaha:

Because most of it is worthless and will never apply to real life
:yeshrug:
Huh??

Are you serious? The logistical computation to package an deliver the computer that you bought. The binary math needed to run your phone/apps/programs. Even your email:

While I agree with you I THINK I understand his mentality.

See, most 9-5 jobs do not require US AS INDIVIDUALS to do the hard math/construct formulas to MAKE the product/function work. A truck driver, one of the most important jobs, does not require complex math. Neither does a culinary chef, nurse or even construction worker. Just the basics and most of the hard part has already been done.

Unfortunately, that means we have less power to make changes and are relegated to say, "that's just the way things are."

And I was the main culprit of that mentality in my youth.

I was too dumb to understand Carl Sagan's philosophy on education

We didn't evolve the need to have a good a grasp of mathematics or not. What mattered is whether you could feed yourself, fukk and run from predators. All you needed to understand were the end effects of maths not the science behind it. E.g. Catching a projectile, and throwing a spear, is advanced physics but you don't need to understand the mechanics behind it to do either well.

There are many tribes like still around, like the Piraha, who have no concept of math, they only count to 2 or 3.

We are essentially bad at maths and abstract maths concepts, e.g. We are terrible at probability.
