We didn't evolve the need to have a good a grasp of mathematics or not. What mattered is whether you could feed yourself, fukk and run from predators. All you needed to understand were the end effects of maths not the science behind it. E.g. Catching a projectile, and throwing a spear, is advanced physics but you don't need to understand the mechanics behind it to do either well.

There are many tribes like still around, like the Piraha, who have no concept of math, they only count to 2 or 3.

We are essentially bad at maths and abstract maths concepts, e.g. We are terrible at probability.
But we don't have to be. You mix a higher push for math, in addition to the arts and you get get everything from better roads to better space exploration. Not everyone will gravitate toward complex mathematics-->and that is a GOOD thing-->we NEED other people to play their part for the greater of society. But to dismiss the power of math and relegate it to only a select few, takes power away from others who could use it in other aspects of their lives.

To an extent, that's what the internet has done.

In this new era maths and science has been completely relegated to pointless. No one is or will respect it, the scientific community is now the whipping boy of alt-right trolls, unless they want 'alternative facts' to push their agenda.

You know they are or have cut NASA budget right?

NASA has always fought for more funding. I remember a NASA employee dismissing that they are hiding alien facts. He said if we had a modicum of life proof out there we would submit it to get the public to force the gov't tog ran us more funds.

And al-facts can battled by those who code, not control, the media. Not an easy and never ending battle but the pendulum does swing

words are easier to digest than numbers

also they way schools taught me maths with the whole top group middle bottom group hierarchy never helped and I always felt pressure in tests

Because it's never presented in a way that shows you how useful it is. School curriculums are all about passing tests.
