I agree. Pac is my favorite rapper of all time, but IMO he's not the greatest lyrical rapper ever - although he certainly could be lyrical. His raw delivery and the game he dropped is what makes him the GOAT to me.
To those doubting his lyrical abilities, check out "Ballad of a Dead Soulja," "Cant C Me," "Deadly Combination," "Untouchable," and "Scared Straight."
He fukkin murders these tracks, frfr![]()
Did he? In what year?
Dear Mama is probably the best example of why Pac was so great. Its his passion and voice. He makes you FEEL what he's saying.
Just looking at the words to Dear Mama on a sheet of paper, there's not much to be impressed by from a technical standpoint. Very simple and basic lyrics. No fancy rhyme schemes, multis and patterns.
But when you listen and hear his voice and how he "performs" the song, you can't help but to be swept away by it.
Pac was a PERFORMER and you can tell by how he spit his verses in the booth. He more than just "rapped", he put on a performance.
If you cant feel Pac, that says more about you than him![]()
Pac's music is the most "anti-machine" because it's the hardest to replicate/appropriate.
These white folks can't "master" the evocation in his music.
All those "lyrical miracle" dudes are the easiest for white society to imitate.
Pac's music existed somewhere outside the "technicalities"
There's no guideline or structure to teach you how to "get it"
It's the power behind the words they can't capture.
They can say Hennessy and enemies all they want, but the essence & spiritual energy in his music remains intangible.
All they can do now is try to tear him down and rebuild him into something they can handle
ok this is fair i don't agree with it but i respect it imo he is the goat lyricst but when makes him different then the other guys on my top ten list though
is that he was not one of those rap about how dope he was on the mic or about how much money he got or how many women he fukked or how many nikkas he done shot. example g rap kane biggie jay-z nas etc.
he had alot of content aka alot to talk about was not limited conceptually in terms of concepts or content.

True Pac use our ancestral gifts of vibration, spoken word and the spirit to touch his people and these devils can't understand it or tap into that power....so they make up shyt

Idk about that tho, bro, because I know for a fact Pac has talked about getting dudes murked, making money, and getting/fukking bytches.
But you right he also has a lot of deeper songs - songs that talk about poverty, war, single motherhood, how black men should see each other as brothers instead of enemies, how we should love our black women and not lie to them, etc.
Pac was just a deep dude who rapped about all type of shyt that ANYONE could relate to, which is why he is so beloved all around the world even to this day. On top of that he showed no fear, which is a trait that I think all men really admire, honestly.![]()
Got it. I was thinking in real time. I wouldn't count Em either. At one point, Pac was the highest selling MC of all times.
I think Eminem recently surpassed him, but I don't consider Em a peer.

Dear Mama is simple as hell lyrically but he's actually UNDERRATED as far as his actual technical ability. Very underrated.disagree it is filled with dense rhymes .
To these cacs, real hip hop is about using big words, even if the lyrics make absolutely no sense. Reason why, is that cacs need a reason to try to be relevant in hip hop. They know they don't have the flow or substance, so they try to use everything else to justify their presence. It's like white bball players, who are "fundamental" or three point specialist.Vocab is superficial. It's more about what you're saying than the words you use to say it. PACs lyrics had more substance than most dictionary rappers
