why do people throw Kanye in their Top 5 with the likes of Nas, Jay, Pac, Big, etc....

because they can ....if you can justify it- then why not ?

there are a lot of close minded older guys in here who don't appreciate anything except the 90s

it's a zero sum game......it's all about lyrics and doing it solo or nothing at all

Kanye galvanized hiphop into an era that clashes with what they grew up on........

top 5 rapper ? not a chance but he is top 5 hiphop artist if not #1

We only know of John Legend because of Kanye ...........

:deadmanny:

Because he fails as a rapper in hip hop since he doesn't write his rhymes nor has elite flow or delivery, there has to be a special set of rules to prop him up. Only guy in the history of hip hop this is used for.
If you're gonna use bs justifications then you must have dr.dre higher than kanye, correct?
Dr. dre has unquestionably made better music, helped deliver more classics, and has done more for hip hop.

Dr.dre》》》》》》》》》 kanye as an artist, right?

This correct, and Dre definitely better than Kanye. And lol at where he falls short as a rapper, this is RAP music lol..

People look back with nostalgic eyes and forget a lot of the bullshyt... this applies to anything :manny:

Everything these days is a "right now" culture it seems. Music especially. You gotta keep in mind that he's not a new jack anymore. Kanye's been in the game known for 15+ years now, and been a well known Multi-Platinum rapper/producer for over a decade. You have people that literally grew up on his albums that could be in their mid 20's by now. Not to mention people like me that started checking for him late high school and early college. And I'm 30 now and I was a fan just on the producer angle since he did This Can't Be Life and The Truth.

Think about a kid that's 24 that loves Kanye. They were what, 13 when College Dropout came out? Kanye's first few albums would've been coming of age albums to someone like that, who never got to experience Pac or Big at all first hand, and even only experienced Jay and Nas when they were out of their prime. Jay would've been retired for most of that person's life in high school, which is where most of us find that music that really speaks to u. And then to wonder why they put Kanye above Big and Pac?

Time is moving on man.

That's the reason IMHO.
