Probably you run out of stories you really want to tell. Your first few albums you bring what makes you unique to the table. Less inhibited as well.

one thing i havent seen mentioned in the thread is the fact that the first album has 15-20 years or experiences & stories to tell whereas the subsequent albums generally have 2 years at most, 3 months the way artists go these days. of course you can always draw from old stories for future albums but people always want to draw from current events int heir life.

i saw KRS perform live a few years ago, he was dope as fukk, just as good as i would ever imagine. lots of rappers have gotten technically better over the years, Tech N9ne has always been getting better as far as flows go, Pharoahe Monch, Sean Price, Ghostface, as elementary as his style is Ice-T is still dope when he spits as shown by his little freestyles on Combat Jack a few weeks ago, he was spitting shyt he wrote from the 70s & it was some of the most gangbangin-est shyt you'll ever hear and the flow was ill. dude is in his 50s i think.

I don't think GFK is as good as he used to be.

Ghost was 30 when Supreme Clientele dropped. Fat Joe has very few garbage albums. as others have said, hip-hop is still very young. There are plenty of us here that are as old as hip-hop itself. We have to play the waiting game to see how it unfolds. But as far as the "microwaveable" artists they will have a hard time adjusting or keeping their identity as they mature.

Nas Life Is Good proved Hip-Hop ages like fine wine:yeshrug:

...and, the young rappers (KDot, Krit, Cole, and em) that resonates thru the :trash:, crafts their music by emulating the music we grew up on, so it's vice-versa...if that makes sense:lupe:
