Depending on your height, short or tall can be looked at as relative terms (you can only be short or tall in comparison to something else).

With that in mind, most women don't want a guy shorter than them and most men don't want a woman taller than them. It might have something to do with the implication of dominance/submission but I'm not sure exactly why this is. Some people are more adamant about it than others.

I like taller girls WAY better than shorter girls. It kinda sucks being 5'10" though...
