I don't get it. When someone says they want to LIVE somewhere it usually means they want to rent/buy property in said area. What else could I have possibly meant?

I don't mind living below my means. I'm just looking for a cheap place to live in before I ultimately leave the country.....long story.

I don't plan on having roommates because my line of work is....questionable. Need to live alone.

I don't intent on owning a vehicle. Maybe use bus/taxi/uber to get around.

I don't have any debt.

I'm not obsessed with materialism/fashion/etc.

I don't have any friends so I don't need an expensive, modern smartphone with a plethora of unwarranted features and an expensive monthly plan./
wtf:heh:

When someone says they want to live somewhere that means they want to survive in general with every factor accounted for

If youre just trying to rent a spot you should just say that....

And yeah, for a grand im sure you can find something somewhere over there.

Go to Trulia Rent or use the app and search by price.

Thats not impossible...

To SURVIVE alone for $1000 a month down there virtually is impossible to do alone

More historically speaking, Miami was founded after the Civil War. It was mostly settled by Northerners, and the main founder was a woman named Julia Tuttle from Cleveland(interestingly). New Yorker Henry Flagler built the Florida Eastcoast Railway that stretches down the whole Florida coast, and was used as railline to attract wealthy Northerners to vacation and travel throughout the state. So basically Miami's been a magnent for Northerners since the city was founded.

Authentic Southern culture didn't really start taking hold in Miami until WW2, when GI's from the South would buy homes and move their familiea down there. That's when Jim Crow stepped in and that's when Miami became "The South" so to speak.

That's real cheap. Those sound like one bedroom prices. I bet you can't find a 3-2 for less than 1600 anywhere around the area. It's all getting expensive. I'd rather buy than rent with the prices I've seen.
