Why do so many people from third world countries immigrate to America?

First off let me get this out of the way, I understand that everybody in america is a immigrant one way or another, thats not what I'm trying to say. This thread is about new fresh off the boat immigrants. Let them escape the third world country, but don't come to america, go somewhere else

This thread is about people who are in their mid 30's and above, and who move to america thinking its gonna solve all their problems. My uncles one of these people and i really don't understand why he moved here. He moved here in 2000, he was 43 then. Like at that point in your life, moving to another country and starting a new life is one of the last things you should do

coming to a new country, one whom you know nothing about, don't know the language, like wtf is the point? Esp when your already nearing 40 or already over 40. 0 logic or rationale behind it. Go somewhere where you're at least a little familiar with

Now this uncle i was talking about, he's 57 now, struggling (although financially he's doing ok i guess), has no time off, and pretty much lives a shyt life. Is that why he came here? is that the american dream?

Somebody needs to tell these people overseas america isn't what they think it is. Financially/economically it isn't much better then what they're coming from. There isn't jobs everywhere like these guys think there is

their lives right now are horrible. Literally just wasting it and throwing it away, not doing anything significant, barely enjoying anything

Depending on where they're coming from its way better than where they came from even at its worst. Let me explain it to you this way. $19 Ethiopian birr roughly make $1 American dollar, it's an overwhelming majority that barely see that in a day if even a week. It's no way you can convince even the most down and out immigrant that they'd be better off back home unless they got some inheritance or fortune, or for sentimental reasons. That's what happens when shyt is lopsided, you can't expect people to not want better for themselves and their kids. Especially when they see their relatives that did make it and now are living the American dream or some semblance of it.

35+ isn't old for an immigrant if they're motivated. I think your peoples just lazy or prolly enjoy the lifestyle without the work.

Thats the thing they're not lazy, all they do is talk about how much they want a better life but never do anything to actually change their live. These guys have 0 ambition, don't wanna do anything, 0 goals . And i gave a bad age tbh, 35 is still pretty young, make it 40+. Part of the problem is they don't realize how bad their lives are, and even if they did they don't do anything to change their living situations. They've just given up on life, they have 0 passion or ambition for anything, no goals, nothing. Like that uncle i was talking about, his friend moved here in 2010, he's 59 now. Tell me why tf a man that old should start a new life

my uncle is 57 and barely gets any sleep, he works in the transportation industry, a lot of African people work with him. These guys wake up at at least 2AM every day. They fall asleep any chance they get. Id rather just kill myself then live like that

these guys have no idea how people their age are living like in america. They don't know what retirement money is, they think everybody here who gets old lives off welfare.

I know an Indian guy that moved her in his late 30's. He ended up starting a trucking business, and now he is a millionaire. His kids went to schools like UCLA, Standford Etc. His daughter is a Doctor and his Son is wall street analyst.

I sure he doesn't regret moving to the America in his 30's.

There are greater barriers to success moving at an older age as you're really stuck in your ways but if you're determined then you will succeed.

I travel to a lot of different places for work and have wondered myself "Why would these immigrants come here and work these occupations?" But the "American Dream" has been something people have strived for the in last century. We don't realize that working a horrible job in America (where yes we do get shyt on by government/police/ect) but that is a lot better than than living in these third world countries.

I'm not going to lie, they meritocracy bullshyt they feed us growing up is a bunch of shyt and it's sometimes more relevant of who you know and where you grow up. Having well off, connected middle class parents will set you off for life. One thing is clear is that as bad as the lie of meritocracy we get fed here, often times it is much worse overseas where moving up economic ladders is pretty much impossible. If you were born poor there, you're pretty much going to stay that way with none of the entertainment ammenities we have here to keep us from shotgun mouth washing.

At least here you can become a millionaire in your lifetime in America if you make the right moves, start the right business, meet the right people or get a great paying job in a booming industry. That kind of shyt doesn't exist overseas in some countries.
