Why do so many rappers cross over to acting?

Seems like musicians in other genres rarely if ever crossover to acting, why so many rappers do it?

Its crazy that every somewhat known rapper from NYC has acted in a movie at some point


I'm shocked Drake hasn't taken any movie roles since dude is a legit professional actor since he was on Degrassi

I would imagine rap money is touching if not surpassing hood movie money, I'm pretty sure Jay Z got far more money off of BP3 than Cam did off of that Netflix movie he just dropped.

Lets be honest here, most rappers are not in Hollywood blockbuster A list type movies, DMX, LL and Cube are the only rappers who had major roles in somewhat high profile movies.

For usually two 2 biggest actors take 80-90% of the salary.
If Fast and furious paid 100 million in salary 80 went to The rock, the white boy and
Vin diesel. The rest going to the 800 other employees.

Dmx was the leading roll so he might've bankrolled, but lol at 80k of an album selling 5 million world wide. That's just first class rape. 5 mills back then is like 75 million dollars grossed. With no pop radio, no big promo, no famous producers or features and they only gave him 80k . Or maybe Puff toon 20 million for the Mase feature. Also him making 8 million of a low budget movie which grossed less than 10 million when Nas had the top billing is also interesting.

And like I showed.
Spiderman 2 grossed 800 million bucks and outside of the top 3 actors the rest got 3 million to split.

And me criticizing someone for making 80k when your albums grossed about 700-800 times more is not hating. And I still don't see how he made 8 million of Belly.

From the movie budget, they set aside a percentage for salary.
Of that percentage, 80-90% is usually set aside for the 2 biggest actors, cause everyone else is usually disposable.

But everything I've said about movies excludes bonuses (which some actors cam negotiate) when thresholds are passed.

Looking at fast five, 125m budget.
If The rock and Vin Diesel already has been given about 40m.. And they still have the white boy, Michele Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster to pay, plus screenwriters, high prices action, producers, directors and on. And this dude thinks Luda is balling home mad cash lol.

Luda made 12 million the year he made Fast Five but he's made 10-16ms every year since the Forbes thing started.
