I use social media because I wanna see what the people I know are doing...and where my people head at when I come back home....case in point, I when was home this weekend I ran into my next door neighbor I grew up with. We catch up and I tell him about college and my starting my career, this nikka , with a straight face, was like "sheed, my nikka I been in jail for 6 years for armed robbery but I got out on good behavior tho"

im like :beli:

This nikka brags about jail the whole damn day to me and everyone else in the vicinity.

Saying shyt like:

I had to do right in dere mang, ya boy was tryna him some of that world with the quickness.

Me: what you got planned my nig since you out? :lupe:

Him: sheed you know, stay outta jail and shyt, get tatted up

Me::snoop:

We playing madden on ps4:

"nikka I ain't played madden in like 6 years, like right before I went in"
Me: :beli:

We went to Mickey D's:

Sheed tho bruh, that's the first thing I ate when I got out from doing that time my nikka.
Me: :beli:

Then this nikka got drunk later on that evening
and I had to help this nikka make an order at a truck stop then this nikka tried to holla at a female that he found out was his cousin

I was :deadrose:

I ended up cursing this nikka out cause he had weed and crack he was tryna sell in my car...after I told him that dont have that in the car cause I'd ruin my career if I got pulled over like that.

6 years in jail and this nikka ain't learn shyt.:dahell:

Long story short social media could saved me from being annoyed all day and vacuum cleaning my car all night

Social media :blessed:

i don;t think exposures happen on facebook since you already know the person. Or they self expose

Messageboards are 10 times worse and wayyyyy less realer than social media. If my lame ass homie tries to rant on woman via twitter, all of his followers are gonna known what kinda guy he is and immediately dismiss his BS cause he's lame. Over a messageboard, we don't have the convenience of knowing who a person really outside of the posts they probably spent hella long thinking up trying to sound cool.

Y'all need better friends :laff:
This is what it comes down to. A lot of people on here assume themselves to be of better quality than the people they hang around and then come here to shyt on them, so that's why they don't see forums/messageboards as social networking, but a sort of higher ground for them.

i'm anti-homo and I believe in most conspiracy theories...but I need to work so I can't risk these companies scanning my social media and disqualifying me based on something I posted there...so it's safer to post here :umad:

I don't have a problem with social media at all.

I have a tumblr with almost 3,000 followers

Facebook is actually fun now since I stopped giving a f*ck what my high school friends that friended me on there think.

Twitter is just stupid to me now.

And I only use instagram sparingly...so :yeshrug:

I only fukk with y'all because of SOHH and the connections we have cause of it...so there fam.

My dude just generally stupid, and I can't fukk with him like that no more because of it. Had I read his Facebook I would've known from the jump tho.

Day 1 nikkas :camby:

That shyt reminded me of a dude I grew up wit back home. We all grown now, hadn't seen the nikka in maybe 10 yrs but we were almost inseparable in the old days hustlin and shyt. Long story short same situation kind of, I go home to visit, go to his crib, this nikka coked up, nose runnin, old ratchet bytches and underage heffas knockin back tall cans on his porch, living room and kichen filled with appliances and old computers ,TVs stacked up, pile ful of copper and metal on kichen floor and he askin me for a ride to the scrap yard I'm like :what:

I guess the scrap yard buy copper and shyt like $.50 a pound idk.
What got me is the nikka had like 4 or 5 stacks of UNSCRATCHED lottery tickets on the table. Had to be 100 tickets per stack still in the plastic.
I saw that and was like :gladbron:DUDE HOOK ME UP

My boy was like:beli:"sit the fukk down nikka them shyts ain't activated....now iz you gon giv me a ride or what"

I don't think social media would've gave me the heads up on that.:yeshrug:

Yeah
Forums are a haven for anti-social types.

A lot of these people feel safe in the illusion of anonymity.

They don't do so well when they're forced to be themselves amongst others.

A lot of hatefilled losers frequent forums. It's a digital substitute for actually having to make friends.
That's really profound breh :ohhh:

Maybe there's something wrong with me!? :krs:

lol at both those stories, I never got Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and I suppose I do regret it from time to time. All my friends, or most are all over it, so I get most of the hilarious updates, child births, simping bytches who got ran through back when, unlikely hookups, whatever, but for as nostalgic a person as I am, I'm sometimes bothered that I can't or don't catch up with, or keep up with hardly anyone from those days. I imagine a good amount of people from my middle school never 'made' it anywhere, but I know some did….There are good and bad points to both, and I think there definitely some of the same personality types running around here, but the constant narcism and relentless glamorizing of ordinary or unenviable lives is hard to stomach,…I browse peoples IG's or Facebook profiles, and it's pretty fukking demoralizing and empty after a few minutes of snooping, I'm usually like 'let me get back to the news or my hip hop shyt, anything but this'….I know I'm missing out on at least a handful of girls too, but all things considered, not a big deal. I swear whenever I do find some girl from back then on a friends, or whatever, 8/10 they have a kid. It's not a case of social media being inherently shallow and trivial, all those negative adjectives, but more how people use it, you can't say they at least 60% of people who are heavily on social media are on some bullshyt, bunch of '2nd Childhood' bytches and men, posting about the club and eating ordinary ass meals, I mean we all know a lot of people who are brink of economic ruin, but looking at the IG you'd think they were heiresses and shyt…

Also, a forum like this, or several other I know are much more discussion/topic based, conversations on music, movies, tv, politics, current events, and some bullshyt….whereas, much of social media (esp. at 25-35 age) is a lot of backslapping, platitudes, cliches, 'inspirational quotes' self congratulatory, humble bragging bullshyt, imo
