Why do some Dog Owners actually think their Dogs can Kill someone?

I've talked to dog owners and pitbull breeds especially, and these people really thought their dog could kill me in a fight to the death

I even gave the fact that it could hurt me, but all I gotta do is give him one leg to bite on, and then stomp em out with the other one.
