:what:

So the Mom got married and hyphenated her name? Then had kids and gave them her hyphenated name instead of the father's?

And you're a weak man if you let your wife hyphenate her name. :snoop: No balls.

That's show of power by a woman.

mom and dad weren’t married then came a kid. Mom doesn’t want kid to have dads last name (because they aren’t married) so they meet in between.

The kid has his and her last name.

If she gets married, her new child will have the dads last name only.

This is something that comes from royalty and then regular rich people got in on it, but now it's mainly people a lot lower down the socioeconomic ladder doing it.

one example from Chiefs player Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a Chief! “My last name is hyphenated because I took my stepdad's last name — the Scantling,” Valdes-Scantling said. “He's been a part of my life since I was a baby. Mar 25, 2022

This is common in the dominican republic.

When I joined the Air Force, They included both my last-names on my uniform
which together totaled 17 characters. I had to get it fix and only include my dad's last name.
