I'd vote if I found a candidate who represents the interests of the constituency I live in stood for election. The problem is the party-whip system has completely perverted democracy. Nobody votes for their MP in practice, they vote for the party leader, who is running for Prime Minister. What's the point of voting for a local representative if the local representative isn't actually going to champion the interests of their community but is instead going to toe the party line? MPs know that their election chances depend on the image of the Prime Minister and the cabinet, not on their relationship with their actual constituents or on how well they address local problems. So they don't give a fukk. They just coast along doing nothing. The whole system is just so meaningless. I don't fukking care about the PM, I'm not voting for him, I'm voting for you to fix the fukking causeway at Cambridge Avenue, not because I want your party leader to do whatever at a national level.

Our system is obviously not like the American one, and on top of that it's illegal to not vote so we have 100% turnout. All I do on election day is turn up at the polling centre, get my name marked off on the roll, and then write something abusive on the ballot paper and toss it in. I don't actually vote. Many of us don't, even though the government claims 100% turnout. It just means 100% got their names marked off the roll. It doesn't mean they actually submitted a meaningful vote.

Also I believe that my vote should be earned. I'm not obliged to throw it away on anybody. You want my vote then give me something worth considering. If my vote is supposed to be my only expression of political power then I'm going to withhold it until there's a cause worth getting behind. Neoliberal corporate shill Biden Clinton types aren't even worth the dirt on my shoes

depending on where you live the electoral college makes voting a waste of time.

I voted for obama in 08, saw how the map worked and said fukk it for the next 2 elections. These cacs in GA going to do they thing every time.

I always see a bunch of nikkas post the i voted sticker on election day, then later on that night be mad because the state went red
sounds like georgia is worth voting this time around :ehh:

i woulda sworn i read that stacy abrams went out and registered like 50k voters, and trump only won by like 30k votes

Because people don't see any difference between when Democrats are in power or Republicans. :yeshrug: I'm actually making more money under Trump than Obama. :francis: The average person doesn't give a fukk about Supreme Court picks and shyt. That's why I fukked with Bernie, he (and Liz) were the only candidates talking about real transformational change.

Yup. These idiots don't give a fukk about reparations or a black agenda, it's just a ruse and a distant goalpost to justify their lack of engagement in politics. This is why whenever a Democrat DOES come out in support of reparations, it's either not good enough for their "demands," or dismissed as Trojan horse pandering. It's why a Congressional hearing initiated by Democrats on the need for reparations produced more bytchy skepticism and inaction from these people claiming to take this seriously, than it did any further results. Even the YouTube thought leaders couldn't wait to line up and disparage the hearing with no further resolve other than to continue following them with cult-like devotion. This is why the people collectively most aligned with reparations--liberals, Democrats, other minority ethnic groups--are the greatest targets of these types. They don't really care about any of that shyt. It's all just a game of mental stimulation and attention for them. They use reparations and all that "demand my vote" shyt for their own little clout.

In the past these fools were the ones always saying "both sides the same" all the time and then the moment you challenge them to elaborate on their views and talk about the actual legislative goals of either side and how they are possibly "the same" they shut down because they don't actually know shyt about politics. They just insert themselves in it for attention, not wanting to perceived as dumb or beneath mature, political discourse. Twitter and YouTube has given these loud mouths a self-serving, "intellectual" position to place their lazy, fake intellectualism. It's sad because reparations in some pragmatic form or another is a noble LIBERAL cause that is achievable and that black folks should be patiently and actively pursuing with every Presidential administration and Congress. I think all of us who considers ourselves ultimately "pro-black" in our political views are in favor of it. But these phony militants along with their YouTube thought leaders have turned it into a joke. Mental pornography for loud extremists and anti-establishment types. Useful fodder for opportunists looking for a pro-black social media persona or political operatives looking for something to emotionally manipulate and weaponize black voters against voting over. They are doing more to destroy their own movement than any Pan-Afrian activist or jealous Yoruba immigrant could be bothered. Not even 20% of Americans support reparations in any form and these fools seem hell bent on making it the most unpopular policy issue in America for a generation and then blame it on everything, especially Democrats and us voting, when nobody at all supports it--keeping us perpetually not voting and removed from any influence over this country.
