Why do some people get angry and upset whenever Jesus is brought up?

Anyone saying the OP & other Christians of being boisterous or bring up their belief when no one asks may not be familiar with the The Great Commission mandate directly from Christ:

“…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19). This mandate is essentially evangelism/sharing. Christianity isn’t the ONLY faith with mandates. Others also have some extreme/divisive ones but I’m not here to get into that.

Back to the OP…HOW that’s done is a totally separate issue. When sharing, you have to tailor your approach to where a person is in life, how they think, and meet them where they are not where you feel like they need to be. Basically exercise discernment/emotional IQ/“read the room” with your approach. Otherwise, you’ll just “kill the witness” and not be effective. Some people simply lack the ability to have nuanced conversations and be persuasive, regardless of the discussion.

Moreso than that… if you’re not new to this then you know there are some people who are going to offer visceral pushback no matter HOW you approach the subject. And you have to learn to be okay with that. Far too often I see people get upset that the other person gets upset. Is the goal to successfully convert the person in one conversation/win a debate?

Once you’ve had the initial discussion or simply shared the information, you’ve done your part. It may not be your job to argue or engineer that person’s entire process so don’t automatically assume it’s your duty to do so. Some plant, some water, but God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6).

I will say that this year 2025 is the most i've seen street preachers getting attacked and shouted down when they preach the gospel of jesus christ

this life is choosing grounds and all of the good things in it are just a shadow of the good things about being in the presence of God afterward.

it is exceedingly simple to find out that jesus christ is the most documented historical figure with his death, burial and resurrection all being witnessed to.

he made the claim that he is the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to God the father but by him.

the rage you see against any mention of jesus is conviction plain and simple.

Interesting that you notice that its happening more in 2025

There's a really...really STRANGE reason this seemingly anecdotal thougth may be true...

I've thought abotu making a thread about it, but maybe DM me and I'll share a bit. Not a conspiracy either, it's out there in the open and its CRAZY.

I try to tell people - whether you believe in Jesus or not, there are people much more powerful than you that sure are doing things to counter JESUS and don't give any cares about athiests, muslims, or anyone else..

This isn't even relevant to the conversation. This isn't a discussion about whether there is a creator or not...and honestly I dont care to have that discussion with you or any posters on this board. It's not that I dont care to hear the answer. I don't care to hear your answers. It's all subjective.

The deepest insecurity of man is what will happen when they die and the question of who/what created us and why. Insecurities project. If I know something for certain why do I need to keep bringing it up or boisterously brandishing and going on the offensive with it?

My answer is my own. We will all die and find out or maybe we will die and not find out where our consciousness ceases to exist and any thoughts post death would be impossible. Could be. Could not be.

I went to visit my mom the other week and we start discussing things like family, life and etc and the topic turnt to religion and when I told her (she’s into new age and Buddhism) that Jesus is the one and only true God and that he paid the penalty for our sins she got very defensive and argumentative. She became blasphemous and started telling me that he did not exist and she even went as far as to deny he was ever crucified (when I told her there’s actual proof of his crucifixion she got angrier and even more combative).

It’s not just her but whenever I tell people in person that I believe in Jesus and he’s the true God I always get attacked and mock and etc.

Why do people get so triggered whenever anyone bring up Jesus? :francis:

because

1i.

and

2.

TL;DR because religion rubber stamps wish thinking and irrationality and other notions such as purity, scapegoating and inherited guilt.
