I think most of the after earth debacle had more to do with M knight than him but also again to compare it to Tom, when he got caught up in all that Scientology, he had a hit to come back to. The bottom line is always the bottom line. You make a hit and no one gives a shyt.
I liked men in black 3 enough but i think that was only in comparison to the second one. And domestically no one gave a shyt about it apparently. Couldn't stand seven pounds and loved I am legend up until the ending. But suicide squad looks like it'll be a hit for him and he'll do his thing and I'm really looking forward to it. I mean the narrative has already changed for him anyway since no one has bashed his performance in concussion and he's getting props for it. It's a movie that was never going to be a hit based on the subject matter, the release date, and Star Wars sucking up all the oxygen. But he's giving people something good to talk about. And then this summer he gets nasty
Breh lol Michael bay ain't doing it. Y'all need to snap out that fukkin dream. He just committed to doing a fifth transformers movie. Joe Carnahan has got the reigns so we'll see what the studio does but if they still have that 2017 release date then something needs to happen on it right now. But count bay out man. Will's new franchise is suicide squad and dc as a whole. Especially if the rumors are true about the future for deadshot
Forgot about Bay doing a fifth transformers (had no interest in the 4th) but even without Bay BB3 would still be a hit with Will, Lawrence, and the right director.
Joe Carnahan would make something more like the first bad boys than the second which works for me but I know cats on here like the bay fukkery in part 2. He'd definitely make it leaner. But I'm also figuring the studio probably wouldn't pump as much money into the third as much as the second anyway. It's almost been 15 years since the last one so you gotta make sure your audience is there and that you get a new audience. You don't want a die hard 5 situation on your hands
they gotta make sure they get new fans. There are kids who are 18 now who were in diapers then and they don't have any relationship with Martin and will like we do. But either way whatever the fukk they're doing they need to do it quickly or that release date is going to change

Will Smith never showed range. At all. He picks safe roles. That's why his career is declining. Look at somebody like Leo Dicaprio or even Denzel Washington, then get back and tell us seriously with a straight face that Will picks a variety of roles.

Dont know breh..... Ali to me was nothing like his Badboys character like that was nothing like his I Am Legend character which was nothing like his Hitch character which was nothing like his After Earth character.
I think an example to me of someone who doesnt show range is that Seth guy who has been pretty much the same guy in EVERY movie he's play. I even though when he did Green Hornet he was gonna finally switch his shyt up but WRONG..... this nicca was still on that played Pineapple Express shyt
I think he's still one of the best actors in Hollywood, but that 4 year break killed some of his momentum. Although "After Earth" wasn't a great film, it wasn't a terrible one either. A lot of the hate that film received was directed towards the director, who has made movies people hated (The Last Airbender, The Village, The Happening), and some people hated the blatant nepotism of casting his son in films when he's not ready to be in films on that level.
Also, I think Will wants to break out of the sci-fi/ action hero roles because he's getting older and doesn't want to be typecast. I haven't seen "Concussion" but I heard it was good film. It was doomed to fail at the box office because it came out at the same time as Star Wars. The film should have been released in October or late January when the Star Wars buzz starts to die down.

Nah son....Ali was damn near 15 years ago. And that's one movie. One movie is not a filmography. I"m not even gonna address I Am Legend. Come on.
Denzel had Malcolm X, He Got Game, Book of Eden, Training Day, Great Debaters, American Gangster, Glory, John Q, Flight.
Can you even imagine Will playing half of those characters? I have a HARD time picturing Will in any of those, especially Glory, or Malcolm X or Flight.
Will chooses safe and sanitized characters. Nothing too raw, nothing too dangerous.
I won't even start on Leo. Will would never do a film like Blood Diamond or Gangs of New York, when that's the kinda shyt he could do to rejuvenate his career

Leo and Denzel came up playing different types of roles, that's what made them who they are. Picking safe roles is what made Will the star that he is, and he has acknowledged how calculated it was. He basically played the Fresh Prince with a gun until Ali and people ate it up. 7 pounds, Happyness, I am Legend, After Earth and now Concussion were all clear departures from that and he hasn't been nearly as successful.
