I don't know I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. It just really make any sense what is he the only black lawyer that works pro bono for T.V. exposure time.

He's not a DA and doesn't work for the state. He deals in civil cases getting his clients compensation for wrongful death.

1. He's a mouthpiece that speaks to the public on behalf of the family and helps bring attention to situations to these civil rights violations.
2. He files lawsuits on behalf of clients.
The local DA's are typical who prosecute these cases. Those same DAs are voted in by the very same people they are prosecuting in these types of cases making the situation even further political and complex.

again, he's not attached to any winning cases, whether it be prosecution or monetary, that I'm aware of. So what is his selling point to these families?

They see him as a spokesman or a voice very similar to what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton use to be when they showed up to scene civil rights violations back in the day.
Now that they are older and kinda out of that realm Ben Crump is kinda the new version of them nothing more nlthing less.
He has created a nice little lane for himself.
