Thats a pretty fukking blanket statement.
Even more stupid considering that police officers and city workers do get alot of benefits.

I've done retail for a while and never seen any discounts for anybody besides military. Maybe other stores do but I've never seen anything pushed as hard as military discounts.
Yes that's a blanket statement. We're talking about pretty broad things like all Americans involved with the military getting a benefit that many others don't. Lotta money involved in that. Kinda my point.

why do kids get discounts... or old people... or AAA members... for incentive for you to shop there. any city with a base will tell you, that base and its members ARE the whole economy there. so what are you gonna do to bring in all those members?? give away shyt for less.

i'm ex military.. i can tell you that a 30% discount had us picking denny's every day instead of mcdonalds.. i can tell you that every single place you go, and get arrested at :shaq: , will show you breaks the moment you pull out that military ID.

i mean really if there was no military, there wouldn't be no damn store in the first place to ask about a discount.. i think it's a fair trade

Guess that's what it comes down to. Thanks for a straight answer.

At sporting events they may get their seats upgraded closer to courtside/stand on the sidelines, or get in free. They get their flights upgraded to First Class and other shyt like that. No one that I knew/know of(including myself, when I was in) wore that shyt just because.

Well people in the military tend to work longer hours then those in the navy or coast guard

Don't be too sure of that. Last year I worked an average of 84 hours a week this year not so much at 72. But I wear Coveralls at work and those can't be worn out in town at all. Lol air force be off work by noon daily

Not proud of it but I have literally got out of probably being arrested for running a red light on in downtown Center City Philly doing like 90 racing someone cause he saw my Military ID. He came up to my car like what the fukk and as soon as he saw my id he was like "get outta here man just slow down"

they get shytty pay
so any benefits they get is well deserved

The pay really isn't all that bad. Let's say you are a single E-5 living in the barracks. You are getting roughly $2550 a month...That's not paying for room and board and you have access to the DFAC(dining facilities) for all 3 meals. What leads to a lot of soldiers, airmen, seamen:scusthov:, marines :shaq2: being broke is it's their first time away from home and first real job, so they go crazy buying the most expensive shyt just because they can.

You go on any post and you'll see the majority of people are riding 2012 vehicles and UP...

So by extension police officers should get discounts too. Or maybe all dangerous jobs.

No other profession, regardless of how much it benefits national interests (and how beneficial members of the military are to national interests right now is debatable) gets discounts. Teachers, doctors, street sweepers, college professors, nurses, EMT workers, hell social workers all provide more of a public benefit than members of the military do right now. Why wouldn't we give them discounts instead?

Seriously, what is a reason we give military discounts besides flag-waving?

I know it's one of those conventional things that everybody has and asking makes me sound like a dikk but I've still never heard a reasonable answer as to why we have them.

I get discounts and free upgrades and usually get treated better than other patrons at resturants or shops when im wearing my scrubs :pachaha:Hell i even walk into Supreme which is know for a street wear shop with fukking a$$hole sales peeps and then fools be like "can i get you anything man?" as soon as i walk in while other fukks are standing around waiting to be helped ha :blessed:
