I sound like a pompous dikkhead but it’s like 80% just being OD empathetic for me :manny:

Deaths just about the worst thing that can happen for most of us so I do feel somewhat bad when someone goes. If it’s someone 70 and up tho, I usually dont think about the death aspect too much, I usually just try to think about what they left behind

I remember when Kobe died (rip) I was chilling with my cousin.

nikka was on Instagram and that's how we found out. He teared up and his voice started cracking. I said "Yo you good?:gucci:"

He started boohoo sobbing and said "They got em man! :sadbron:"
I think the Kobe death was like my litmus test for how callous a nikka can be. The dudes who was bringing up Colorado (what they’d really say is “legal trouble”) the same day as the crash, those are psychotic heartless mfs.

Oh hell yeah that's facts.

There were people I never heard say anything about Kobe start calling him a rapist.

Mfers won't even wait til your body's cold to drag your name through the mud.

Petty Vandross.. fukk Yall
For better or worse the people that are dying were huge to latch key kids(even if you were lucky to have a two parent home
Many of us were still coming home to television)
Many forms of media raised us
Music
Art
Fashion
Sports
All that shyt was intertwined into our everyday realities as kids and into our 20s
So (and before parasocial became the buzzword)
Many of us felt like we KNEW these people and entities
We wanted to emulate them
Get money like them
fukk hoes like them:dame:
We were/are growing up with them as we age
So seeing a 40 something Kobe go out in our 40s
Seeing musicians you woke up to on Saturday while your folks were cleaning
The memories of good times to those songs
All of it comes full circle when you see someone from your childhood die
It reminds you that we all are going to die and we all ain’t invincible

I think it’s equally or maybe even more ridiculous when some broke/average person online posts in the comments on some “Get it king! 👑💪” when some celebrity is flexing their lavish lifestyle on everyone.

Like oh you a part of the crew now huh?
