Em's verse isn't some lyrical miracle BS. It actually has depth. There's a lot of people in every race who are viewed as a heathens or immoral because they don't share the same religious philosophies. It's the first verse that isn't all that relatable because it comes from the perspective of someone with fame/celebrity/influence being used as a scapegoat for the mistakes and shortcomings of the youth. That's a far cry from being sheltered.

I always preferred jays verse also. If nas wouldn't have dropped that line I doubt people would be all "em murdered him" if they weren't told that.

Eminem got a quotable of the month in The Source for that verse in the same issue that Blueprint received 5 mics. At the time, that said a lot considering an album that you're awarding 5 mics should've been easy to find a quotable, but you give it to the sole guest on the album. That's like them giving AZ's verse a quotable in the same issue that Illmatic received 5 mics.

Em delivered two flawless verses where dumb near every word rhymed and he still made a cohesive point....his flow was immaculate as well...also lets not forget it was originally a song w him n Royce so jay had plenty of time to hear the verses and try to outdo em but he couldn't...also that's one of jay z best verses he wasn't sack at all he just wasn't as nice as em on it

Me not liking most whites aside, I always wondered why people said Jay got killed on this track. Em's verse was decent at best, Jay's verse was real life for inner city youth, not a typical white boy rant.

When someone hasn't dropped a decent album in literally 10 years, he should never be mentioned among greats. This is simply another case of black people being accommodating and friendly to outsiders.

When a white is decent at something that comes natural to a lot of us, our inner self-hatred makes us believe the white is great. Eminem is the Jason "White Chocolate" Williams of rap.
