stringer wasn’t some peon. he was as much a business partner as Avon had. they were just going in different directions. when Avon ignored stringers concern about supply and brought mouzone in that would’ve been the beginning of my transition out. I wouldn’t have tried to get mouzone hit but I would’ve been looking to leave.

In that game your only ambition should be to get away as clean as you can and turn your money over.

 You forgot about D'Angelo's chess lesson? I'd agree with you if it was the Bell & Barksdale Organization but it was just Barksdale's name. I know consigliere ain't peon status but he still getting taken out like one if the Don feels like it. :francis:

Stringer was going to do Avon dirty by going to Colvin. The worst thing Stringer did besides having D killed was playing Mouzonne and Omar and in the midst of it he messed with Avon name and reputation. In the game all they have is their name and rep, Mouzonne reminded Avon of this and if he didn't act the New York connection was going to completely freeze Avon out because his name and rep would be shyt who would ever trust him.
Which didn’t make sense they all bought from Greeks from the co op.

I thought that was the issue though was that he was going to lose the buildings.. i usually do a yearly rewatch, maybe ill get it started early this year :heh:
nah he was trying to get the permits and use the buildings as a flip cause the city was gonna buy them at like double the value. But the contractors was bleeding him and and told him to pretty much bribe clay to get the process moving but you clay was a finesse artist and just played on him

Your name is your name. You can’t be known as the dude who hired a well known goon then double crossed him, said fukk his revenge, and he got NY connects? Oh it wasn’t just gonna be no more coke. He and Stringer was gonna have forever type problems if he didn’t

When Avon was locked up he was still the boss and Stringer represented him so whatever foul shyt Stringer did it had Avon name on it like when Stringer put the contract out on D homie told Stringer "You Barksdale's is something else" he didn't say Stringer is something else.

Avon still had clout that Marlo had to go to him so Avon could set up the meet with Sergei to get to the Greek. Marlo doesn't need to do that if Avon let's Stringer walk.

fukked up thing is that none of that had to happen if Avon would've just listened to String about getting off the corners and getting down with Joe and the co-op[/B]. Avon even said it at the end when him and Slim Charles was talking and Slim told him it didn't matter now, that if they went to war over a lie then they had to fight.

Of course it's just a show, but in real life there comes a point where you and your business partner may just have to go your separate ways, no hard feelings, cause you're going in different directions.
Nah, B.

If Avon had done that, he would have never gotten from under Joe. That's why Marlo murked Joe.

Those corners were more valuable than anything else.

Like Bodie said when the city tore down the towers they lost the best real estate in the city. All Avon had left was those corners and he was going to fight like hell to keep them that's how he got his rep.

yep...this is why mouzone still held him somewhat accountable for the situation w/ omar even tho that was all stringer’s play

Nah man. The real estate will always change. Corners, houses, projects. The Greeks could care less about how or where the dope was sold, which was the point of the co-op. They were getting ready to leave the corners to the Bodies and dudes like that, who themselves change as they get locked up or killed.

Marlo was just a fool.

Nah man. Remember why they even got Marlo involved in the co-op. Because they New York boys was taking over they shyt and they couldn't even solve that problem. They needed Marlo's muscle. This is pretty much the premise of the entire show. You want shyt to be one way... From D (why can't we sell it without all the other shyt), to the black cop (why can't we sell it over here and keep it out the burbs), to Stringer (why can't we just sell it like it's a business and leave all that street shyt), to the co-op (why can't we sell it and all get along).

Cause that shyt don't work. At the end of the day, no matter what you do, there's gonna be an Omar or Mike, or New York crew, or Marlo, that wants what you got. And they won't be playing by your rules. The Greek had to school his boy to that when Marlo came and saw him. He saw this play out before. He didn't warn Joe or do him a fukking favor. But he knew Marlo was trying to steal the connect, and was bold enough to do so, and that was gonna win over Joe being the smarter, better business man. That's the streets

Yes, Avon did give Stringer up but I think they both knew they were both going down though. They just didn't know how and who was going to get them. Avon was a realist and Stringer was an idealist. Avon knew he was going to pay soon or later for what he did. Stringer was like he thought he could get away and start again clean. Even with that, both didnt think the other would have sold each other out the way they did just to have that boss chair. Neither of them had it though.

"The street is the street"

You absolutely cannot reform the drug game.

Like you said, they needed Marlo more than he needed them.

That shyt reminded of that so-called thug relative that people in the family don't really fux with and even talk about him. But when something goes down (loco boyfriend, neighborhood beef), they are quick to call him up.

I love the show cause the more you think about it, the more people try to pick at holes, the more EVERY fukking bit of it made perfect sense

How could Stringer be right, when the co-op had HIM personally begging Marlo to join? They went to that little neutral house and talked alone and Marlo still was like "Nah." Truce? "Nah"

Whatever it is String was trying to do, Marlo was not fukking having it, and was ready to war with the entire co-op. It wasn't until Avon got out, they went to war, Avon got locked, String got killed, and Joe begged him like 2 more times to join....... Before he actually joined.. And that was only to 1. Get Joe's info on that raid that was coming. And 2. Steal the connect, which he ended up doing

That co-op shyt was around because Marlo allowed it.. He killed the leader, raised the price and didn't give two fukks to let either be known and ALL OF BMORE WAS SHOOK TO COME AT HIM
