Some white people can't grasp the concept of Lighter skin, certain hair textures, and/or facial features can come from 2 black parents. People have asked me that and I am happy to tell them no

When I tell people I'm black they act like like I'm a alien. I tell them them there's some white or someone light back somewhere in family tree but both my grannys are dark as hell! I always give them a quick protip that "black" people come in shades of colors. Hence the term "colored" back the day. In my case two lightskinned nikkas hooked and had me! LOL!

Them: "I mean where are you from?"
Me: "America."
Them: "I mean what part of the world are you from?"
Me: "The Midwest."
I work with some white people who still have that worldview that American blacks are recent immigrants and cannot be American. Sometimes I'll remind people that my ancestors were here longer than their Irish, Italian, Russian, Scandinavian ancestors.
Me: "American"

Them: "I mean what part of the world are you from?"

WP (and BP) do it b/c they don't think that Black is beautiful so that when the come across someone who they find attractive and who happens to be Black they have to find an excuse. As if to say you can only be attractive and Black if you had a little "help" from a non-Black gene pool. It's subconscious racism. I've had people (Black people) argue me down about it. It's disturbing.

That is exactly how it goes except they will try to be clever and ask "Where are you parents from?"
