shyt never made sense to me, white people don't pronounce haunt as hant or taunt as tant but let their moms sister walk in the room and all of a sudden the u sound gets tossed in the bushes

It's like that episode of Beetlejuice where he turn some ants into his aunts.

Relatively Pesty
Beetlejuice inadvertently turns some ants into his aunts: Auntie Pasto, Auntie Social, Auntie Septic, and Honey Aunt. The aunts promptly begin getting Beetlejuice and Lydia into trouble. Either Beetlejuice musts get rid of them immediately or else his angry landlord will throw him out.

Crazy i just googles this a few days ago. I always said auntie/aunt but its actually pronounced ant. Root word is ante like "up the ante"
