Why do white people struggle with the concept of "light skinned" "dark skinned" & "brown skinned"?

To hear whitey try to describe someone black is a roller coaster ride...They'll tell you shyt about "shade" or they'll point to another black person in the area who they think is close in skin tone...

The ones that grew up around black People of course get it but the ones with no contact just crawl to the finish line. With as much rap as they listen to you would think they would know

The struggle is that they don't want to come off as being offensive towards you. Their predecessors invented hue stratification, so they are well aware about the differences of hue complexion.

Black people struggle with it too.

From my experience, I've been referred to as "white" by many black people for simply just being light skinned. Regardless of features and kinky hair.

I'm like Stephen curry’s complexion in the winter and Ciara in the summer, yet I still get weird left field comments. I've even had black posters say it.

It's kinda creepy.
