Because it's something that has been discouraged and disparaged for a very long time while men were (and still are) being praised for the same behavior.

Just having the option and choice to do something that is seen as something negative for half the human population is empowering for some individuals.

edit: I used the question in the answer... Women are empowered by the fact that they can define their own value to themselves - the irony is that most women that advertise themselves like prostitutes often reinvest into body parts and cosmetics that appeal to men.

I was going through a stressful time in my life and things weren’t working out the way I had hoped.
