"It's my real name. I had a Dreamcast (I don't know if you remember it, the last one Sega put out) back in the day, with the web browser. Around 1999. Anyway, I didn't know much about the internet or message boards, etc. so when I'd post I'd sign my name as if it was a letter. I continued to do it out of habit since then, and people think it's funny.
A bunch of other posters put "Fred" as a joke. I'm not even sure they know it's my real name.
